Welcome to the Promise Pathways Site. The site is designed to provide information to the Long Beach City College community about the development and progress of the Promise Pathways. The site will grow and develop so please check back often!
The Promise Pathways is a college-wide initiative at LBCC to increase the number and pace of LBUSD students' college completions by: increasing academic preparation in high school, aligning that preparation to college expectations, and creating well defined and supportive educational pathways for all students toward their goals.
The Promise Pathways is an extension of The Long Beach College Promise partnership between Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), LBCC and California State University Long Beach (CSULB) to increase local students' success in higher education, which began in March of 2008.
While the Long Beach College Promise has attracted more local students to LBCC and provided unprecedented financial aid, there is a recognition that our college can do more to help local students reach their certificate, degree and transfer goals, which is why the college has begun developing the Promise Pathways.
The Promise Pathways Coordinating team, composed of faculty and administrators from key departments, has been meeting for several months to develop the general outlines of this effort.
The roles and structures of the Promise Pathways effort are currently being formalized and nominations sought to serve on various committees. More information about these committees and a description of their charges is available here. More information about these groups is forthcoming.
