Support The Viking Student Emergency and Basic Needs Fund
In a post-covid world, over 25,000 Viking students are still overcoming obstacles as they continue to work toward their educational goals.
The Viking Student Emergency and Basic Needs Fund was established to respond to the immediate needs of students and student services. Whether the need is technology, food, housing, or any other obstacle that may impede the learning environment, the Viking Student Emergency and Basic Needs Fund helps to remove any barriers to education that a student may encounter.
Since the onset of the Covid-19 crisis the Long Beach City College Foundation and Alumni Association have partnered with LBCC to support students in the areas of housing, food, technology, transportation, and mental health. The LBCC Foundation’s Board of Governors generously matched the first $10,000 raised for the Student Emergency Fund. Our community again responded and longtime supporter The Don Temple Family Charitable Foundation and an Anonymous donor created an additional $10,000 match. This was followed by contributions from the Long Beach Rotary Charitable Foundation and the Long Beach Community Foundation. We are grateful for our community’s generous support of our students during these unprecedented times.
The Foundation is working to continue our support of students by providing access to technology, food, and housing. Our goal is to remain adaptable during these times to ensure that no student has to put their educational goals aside. Together we can make a difference in the lives of our students.
