PreMedCC Zoom Workshop: A Single Mom’s Journey To Family Medicine & Leadership

What does it take to become a physician when the world tells you it’s impossible? Join us for an inspiring conversation with Dr. Rebecca Berger, a family medicine physician and Physician in Charge at Kaiser Permanente Oceanside, who began her journey as a single mom and community college student. From East LA College to UCLA and eventually to medical school at Charles R. Drew University and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Dr. Berger’s path was anything but conventional—and all the more powerful for it. She turned her lived experiences as a teen mother and domestic abuse survivor into a lifelong commitment to serving others through medicine, advocacy, and mentorship.

In this workshop, you will hear directly from Dr. Berger about what it takes to navigate medical school, residency, leadership, and life as a non-traditional student. Come ask your questions, get honest answers, and be reminded that your background is your strength—not a barrier.
