The Long Beach City College Student Emergency Fund recently received a generous donation of $10,000 from the Long Beach Rotary Charitable Foundation (LBRCF).

Retired LBCC Dean and current LBRCF President Gail Schwandner announced the donation as part of a $70,000 donation in which half is to provide direct COVID-19 relief to local education and community organizations. Other recipients included California State University Long Beach Student Emergency Fund, the Long Beach Community Foundation Coronavirus Relief Fund, and the Salvation Army Long Beach Citadel COVID-19 Response.

Since the pandemic hit in mid-March, many LBCC students have struggled with job and income loss, resulting in a focused effort by the LBCC Foundation, the District, donors and the community to locate additional aid for them during this time.
