Janét Hund
Dean, School of Visual, Performing Arts, & Cultural Programs
Janét was appointed Interim Dean of Visual, Performing Arts & Cultural Programs in July 2022. Prior to becoming a dean, Janét was a faculty member for 25 years in Sociology and taught the following courses: Introduction to Sociology, Race & Ethnic Relations in the U.S., Modern Social Problems, Sociology of the Family, and American Pluralism & Identity.
She served as Social Sciences Department Head from 2020-2022. Janét has been an active community member of the Long Beach, Signal Hill, and Lakewood communities for the past 25 years. Diversity-equity-inclusion (DEI) is an important value in Janét’s professional and personal life, as she has many connections with community, cultural, and social justice organizations in the greater Long Beach area. Janét also served in Faculty Association leadership roles for approximately 10 years. The most important aspect of her life is mothering her teenage boys.
