Jeff Epley
Professor, English
Jeff Epley joined Long Beach City College as a full-time English instructor in 2003. He teaches composition, literature, and creative writing courses. He has also taught and presented writing workshops in the Writing and Reading Center.
Before Long Beach City College, he taught creative writing and composition courses at CSU Long Beach and Pasadena City College. He earned his M.F.A. degree from CSU Long Beach in 2001. While in graduate school, he was the curator of the poetry series “Poets on Exhibit” at the University Art Museum, poetry editor for the campus literary journal, Rip-Rap, and an instructor of creative writing. His poetry has been published in The Louisiana Review, Lummox Journal, and Pearl, among others. His work has also been anthologized in Incidental Buildings & Accidental Beauty: An Anthology of Orange County/Long Beach Poets.
He did his undergraduate work at Citrus Community College and CSU Long Beach. While at Citrus Community College, he earned an A.A. in Liberal Arts and an A.S. in Business. Upon acceptance to CSU Long Beach, he won a CSULB Future Scholars’ Award. After three years, he graduated in 1999 as a double major with a B.S. degree in Business Administration: Marketing and English: Creative Writing.
He is currently the Chair of the English department Technology Committee, a member of the Creative Writing Committee, and a member of the LBCC Enrollment Management Marketing Task Force. Each semester he welcomes humor and intellect to the classroom and encourages a student-centered learning environment.
