Melanie earned her BA in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton. While teaching, she returned to CSUF to receive a Master of Science in Reading, where she discovered her delight in teaching community college students. She has taught at a number of schools in both southern and northern California, including Fullerton College, Ohlone College, and  Cerritos College. She is thrilled to begin her work as an Assistant Professor at Long Beach City College in Fall 2016. She aims to foster a love of learning with the use of conversation, creative projects, and practice.
