DEIA Awareness Month Kick-Off: Justice, Access & Opportunity

Date/Time: Wednesday, April 9th, 11:00AM – 2:00PM  
Location: TTC EE Quad 

The Empowerment Resource Fair provides an opportunity for attendees to explore job opportunities, resources, and services. This event welcomes community members, students, youth, justice-impacted individuals, and individuals with disabilities. 

The Kick-Off event is designed to open the month’s festivities/activities by bringing the campus community together in a celebratory fashion to enjoy food, music, entertainment, and curated resources. 


LBCC PRIDE – LGBTQIA+ Summit Watch Party

Date/Time: Tuesday, April 15th – Wednesday, April 16th, 9:00AM – 2:30PM 
Location:  Social Justice Intercultural Center – LAC B206 

The Summit is designed for students, faculty, classified professionals and administrators to come together to learn, share innovative ideas and develop strategies to improve campus and student support services. Whether you’re looking to build more inclusive programs, advocate for change or connect with like-minded professionals, this Summit is for you. 

The LBCC PRIDE workshop series is designed to celebrate and bring awareness to the needs of our LGBTQIA+ community. Rather than holding Pride Month in June, when the campus sees a pronounced dip in foot traffic, the intent is to spread these themed events throughout the year.  


Out of my Mind Film Screening – Coordinated by ASB  

Date/Time: Tuesday, April 22nd, 2:00PM – 4:00PM 
Location: LAC – Student Union 

Melody Brooks is navigating sixth grade as a nonverbal wheelchair user who has cerebral palsy. With the help of some assistive technology and her devoted allies, Melody shows that what she has to say is more important than how she says it. 

The Film Screening series is designed to celebrate and elevate the diversity on our campus by showcasing films created by, centered on, or starring members of the community being celebrated.  


Where Voices Meet: A DEIA Poetry Panel

Date/Time: Tuesday, April 22nd, 3:00PM – 4:00PM
Location: SJIC (LAC B206)

Where Voices Meet: A DEIA Poetry Panel is a powerful gathering of poets sharing their experiences, identities, and truths through spoken word and verse. This event creates a space for diverse voices to be heard, highlighting themes of equity, resilience, and self-expression. Join us for an evening of poetry, conversation, and community as we celebrate the power of words in shaping a more inclusive world.

The Meet Your Village Workshop Series is designed to provide the campus community with an opportunity to meet peers, staff, faculty, and administrators who identify as they do. One of many ways for you to know is that you have a village that is proud of you, supports you, and is here for you. You belong here! 


Sip N Paint – Coordinated by Academic Success  

Date/Time: Thursday, April 24th, 2:00PM – 4:00PM

 Join us on Thursday, April 24th, from 2PM – 4PM in celebrating DEIA Awareness Month & Black Student Success Week through art, conversation, self-care, and creativity.  RSVP Here! (RSVP Opens 04/09 @ 8am)  

The Sip N Paint workshop series is designed to provide the campus community with an opportunity to engage their creative sides while sharing space with good people. All participants are provided with a canvas, paints, and other materials to unwind while enjoying artistic expression, good company, food, and sparkling cider.   


DEIA Awareness Month Karaoke Night – Coordinated by the SJIC

Location: Social Justice Intercultural Center – LAC B206 

The Karaoke/Open Mic series is designed to share space in a celebratory way to elevate the voices of and highlight the talent in our campus community. Join us on Tuesday, April 29th from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Social Justice Intercultural Center (SJIC) in B206, Liberal Arts Campus.
