Classified Senate Council
Executive Committee, Senators & General Members

Post

The Classified Senate Council members shall be comprised of seven (8) Executive Committee members: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Coordinator, and two Executive Senators; twelve (12) Senators. The Exiting President shall be an ex officio member and shall be a non-voting member.

President

  1. Serve as an official representative of the Classified Senate in all venues.
  2. Be responsible for all required reports and recommendations.
  3. Chair and facilitate all regular Senate meetings.
  4. Administer and maintain the affairs of the Classified Senate between meetings.
  5. Serve as ex-officio member of all Senate committees.
  6. Chair of Executive Board.
  7. Serve on college and district committees requiring the Classified Senate President and other committees as time allows.
  8. Schedule regular meeting between the College President and the Executive Committee. No less than two committee members are permitted at any meeting.
  9. Prepare the agenda for the regular meetings. 

Vice President

  1. Assume duties of President during the President’s absence, at the request of the President or for the unexpired term in the event the President cannot serve. This shall include attending college or district committee meetings in the absence of the President.
  2. Serve as the coordinator of committee chairs and ex-officio member of all committees. Report on current status of committees’ activities to Executive Board and Senate.
  3. Facilitate fundraising and other activities as determined by the Classified Senate.
  4. Solicit a Nominations Officer during election periods.
  5. Perform other duties as necessary as delegated by the President or assigned by the Executive Board. 

Secretary

  1. Assume duties of the President in absence of the President, Vice President in regards to facilitating or attending college/district committee meetings.
  2. Assume responsibility for recording all meeting notes of Classified Senate and Executive Board meetings and the distribution of such; including the distribution of the agenda to Classified Staff and posting on the Classified Senate website.
  3. Serve as official documentarian/historian of the Classified Senate.
  4. Be responsible for Senate correspondence and the dissemination of information to all Executive Board members and the Classified Senate.
  5. Disseminate minutes of Classified Senate meetings to all classified staff by email and posting on the Classified Senate website.
  6. Be responsible for attendance roll and all records of the Classified Senate.
  7. Perform other duties as necessary as delegated by the President or assigned by the Executive Board.

Treasurer

  1. Assume duties of the President in absence of the President and Vice President and Secretary in regards to facilitating or attending college/district committee meetings.
  2. Receive and deposit funds to the Classified Senate account.
  3. Make disbursements from the Classified Senate account as requested by the Senate President after review and approval by the Executive Board.
  4. Shall be responsible for finances of the Classified Senate and all reports pertaining thereto.
  5. Monitor legislative information pertaining to college finances in general and Classified staff in particular and report on same to the Senate.
  6. Assist with Fundraising activities.
  7. Perform other duties as necessary as delegated by the President or assigned by the Executive Board. 

Executive Senators

Executive Senators (PCC, LAC, or At-Large) serve a one-year term as members of the Classified Senate Executive Committee: 

a. Selected from elected senators following the Classified Senate Council election. 

b. Attend all meetings of the Executive Committee and Senate Council. 

c. Assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, in regards to facilitating or attending college/district committee meetings. 

d. Serve as tri-chair or member on a VP planning committee or other participatory governance committee. 

e. Prepare for and attend participatory governance committee and district planning committee meetings. 

f. Represent the Classified Senate at district meetings. 

Exiting President

  1. Assist and inform the President-Elect with the fundamentals and history of the Classified Senate office.
  2. Assume duties of the President in absence of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary in regards to facilitating or attending college/district committee meetings.
  3. Perform other duties as necessary as delegated by the President or assigned by the Executive Board.
