Cynthia Terry is a longtime resident and community volunteer in Long Beach. She obtained her associate degree from LBCC in 1968. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from CSULB, and a master’s degree in School Management and Administration from Pepperdine University. Terry is a retired high school principal from the Long Beach Unified School District where she served 38 years. After retirement she became a certified educational leadership coach with the Los Angeles Office of Education, providing personalized support to secondary-level aspiring administrators. Administrative Coaching allowed Cynthia to continue utilizing her expertise in education while enhancing social justice and equity opportunities for underserved staff and students. Terry serves on several boards including the Assistance League of Long Beach, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Alpha Omega Chapter, and the Harbor Area Chapter of The Links. She has received awards including the 2013 Press-Telegram Amazing Women Lifetime Achievement Award, 2016 Assistance League of Long Beach President’s Award, 2017 Make a Difference Award for exemplary leadership and service, and 2019 Helen D Newcomb Award from the Junior League of Long Beach.
