Early College at Browning High School (ECB)

Long Beach City College and Richard D. Browning High School (LBUSD) have partnered together to offer dual enrollment courses on-site at the high school, which is known as Early College at Browning (ECB). These college classes are embedded within the high school bell schedule and are FREE of charge to all participating Browning students (Free Tuition, Student Fees Waived, Textbooks Loaned).
College courses offered at ECB are in alignment with the Cal-GETC course pattern. Students who successfully complete the entire course sequence and meet all class/unit requirements can earn an LBCC Associate’s Degree for Transfer in Hospitality Management upon graduating from high school, with priority admission to California State University, Long Beach’s (CSULB) Hospitality Management Program.

1. Apply for Admission
- Incoming 9th graders are required to attend Browning High School’s Summer Camps to complete LBCC’s free online application.
2. Submit Your Dual Enrollment Form
- Once you receive your Viking ID number, complete the High School Dual Enrollment Form.
- Submit the form to LBCC’s Admissions Drop Box OR in-person at the Admissions & Records (A&R) office at LAC, A-1075 or TTC, GG-102.
- You will get an email from the LBCC A&R team that your form has been processed within 48-72 hours.
- Important: The form must be fully complete with all required signatures to be approved by the LBCC A&R office. Form only needs to be submitted one-time for dual enrollment participation.
3. Set Up Viking Portal & Complete New Student Orientation
- Go to www.lbcc.edu and click on “Viking Portal” on the top left corner.
- Enter your 7-digit Viking ID as XXXXXXX@lbcc.edu and click next. Select the blue text “New/Forgotten Password”.
- Enter the CAPTCHA in the picture (or words in the audio). Complete the verification process to create your password. You can now access your Viking Student System!
- Make sure your personal phone number is up-to-date to receive sign-in codes. Go to “Student Account” tile, then “Update Profile Information,” and click “Contact Details” to review/update your current phone number.
- Access the New Student Orientation in the “Student Service” tile, then click on “My Orientations” tab. To receive credit, you must complete the “New Student Orientation” and complete the final test with a passing score of 80% or higher.
- Your account hold will be removed after 3 hours of successful completion. This is a requirement to register for classes.
4. Register for Classes
First-time students must receive a message from LBCC A&R confirming that the dual enrollment form has been processed.
- Eligible dual enrollment student will be able to register for classes during LBCC’s open registration (See LBCC’s Registration Dates)
- To access your Ed Plan (Degree Planner) click on the “Build Schedule” tab, then click on “My Ed Plan (Degree Planner)”.
- To register for those classes, select “Class Search and Enroll” also located on the left menu column.
Important Reminders
- Per Federal Educational Privacy Laws (FERPA), parents/guardians will not have access to the student’s records, including grades & transcripts, without their written consent. See FERPA FAQs page.
- Please review our Student and Family Expectations Handout to be aware of the responsibilities when participating in dual enrollment.
- All students, including dual enrollment students, must adhere to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy to be eligible for financial aid upon enrolling as an entering freshman at LBCC. See LBCC SAP Policy.
- Eligibility for the Long Beach College Promise will not be affected by participating in dual enrollment.
