Long Beach City College partners with Handshake, our official online career and recruiting platform, to connect employers and community partners with LBCC students and recent graduates.
Handshake is a free, all-in-one early talent recruiting platform that allows employers to post jobs, internships, and work-based learning opportunities directly to students who are actively preparing for the workforce. Through Handshake, employers can reach LBCC students across a wide range of academic programs and career interests.
LBCC’s Career Center and Workforce Development teams collaborate to ensure employers receive meaningful engagement and access to prepared, motivated candidates.

- Meet with a Workforce Development representative to discuss your hiring needs
- Identify opportunities for jobs, internships, apprenticeships, or work-based learning
- Learn how Handshake can support your recruiting goals
Workforce Development serves as your primary point of contact.
Step 2: Post & Promote Opportunities
Once connected, Workforce Development helps you share your opportunities with LBCC students.
- Post jobs, internships, apprenticeships, and training opportunities on Handshake
- Get support with writing effective job postings
- Promote opportunities to targeted student audiences
- Feature your organization in industry- or sector-specific employer collections
Handshake ensures your opportunities reach students who are prepared and interested.
Step 3: Engage with Students
Employers can actively engage with students through events and direct outreach.
- Host info sessions, hiring events, or industry panels
- Participate in career fairs and recruitment events
- Connect with students interested in your industry or roles
We help coordinate engagement, so your time is used effectively.
Step 4: Hire & Place Talent (Optional)
Workforce Development supports the hiring and placement process.
- Review applications and connect with qualified candidates
- Coordinate interviews and hiring timelines
- Receive support during student onboarding or placement into workforce programs
