Deciding on a major is an important decision, yet can be a difficult one to make. At Long Beach City College, we encourage you to begin to explore your major and career options as early as possible. The Long Beach City College MyMajors career assessment instrument is one of the many ways we offer to assist you with this decision.

MyMajors considers your academic achievements, interests, and personality to recommend top majors that appear to fit you best and ones that you might be interested in pursuing while in college. After completing the assessment, schedule an appointment to meet with a Career Counselor to review the recommendations. Here are some reminders:

Step 1 – Log onto your Viking Portal

Log onto your Viking Portal through the LBCC website with your Viking Student ID and password

Step 2 – Click on the MyMajors Tile

Step 3 – Click to begin the MyMajors Assessment

Step 4 – Registration Form

You must complete the entire registration form before beginning the assessment. Remember, there are no right or wrong answers. Select and provide responses that you believe accurately represent your current position in your major and career development journey.

Step 5 – ‘Continue’ to Begin Assessment

Once you have finished filling out the registration form, proceed to begin the MyMajors assessment by clicking the “Continue” button.

Step 6 – Complete All Sections

Please ensure you fill out all sections of the assessment, which encompass: 1) Personal, 2) Strengths, 3) Work, and 4) Preferences, before reaching the final section: 5) Results. There is a progress bar at the top indicating your completion status. The assessment should take about 15-20 minutes to complete.

Step 7 – Save Your Results

Download the PDF Report of your MyMajors results. Be sure to save the file in a readily accessible folder or location.

To view your report online, visit https://lbcc.mymajors.com/quiz/ and click ‘Log-In’ at the top right corner of the page. Then, enter your email and password to access your report.

Step 8 – Schedule a Career Counseling Appointment

Schedule an Appointment with a Career Counselor to review and interpret your MyMajors results. Please call or email us if you are unable to find an appointment that works with your schedule.
