Long Beach City College offers typing tests for students and people in the greater community who need a typing certification for professional or employment purposes.

Typing tests are free, and no appointment is necessary. 

Earning a Typing Certificate

To take the typing test, you must provide a valid photo ID and complete a 5-minute timed typing test with 35WPM and 5 or fewer errors.

Testing Procedures

1. You are entitled to 15 minutes of typing, which is equivalent to three 5-minute exams per day.
2. If you are unable to meet your goal, feel free to return to take the test again.
3. When you have reached your goal, a typing Certificate Card will be filled out, signed by an instructor, and given to you.

NOTE: Typing tests are NOT given during the first two weeks of each semester or during campus closures or holidays. Testing times may vary. You can call ahead to make sure we are open.
