Date/Time: Thurs., Sept. 26, 11AM – 12:30PM
Location: Zoom: https://lbcc-edu.zoom.us/j/89326548897

The Beyond the Box workshop series is designed to explore the diversity and complexity encompassed within umbrella terms used to represent a wide cross-section of society. The intent is to go “beyond the box” of what pop culture shows us to honor the lived experiences of those in it.

This presentation examines the political-economic forces that forced international migration from Guatemala among multiple racial, ethnic, and linguistic groups to the U.S.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Julio Orellana – UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow, UC Santa Barbara – Department of Global Studies.
