I-AM-FIRST-GEN -Kick-Off Celebration

Location: LAC A Quad

Celebrate the start of First Gen Success Month with community and pride! This resource fair-style kickoff will highlight campus programs, support services, and the stories of first-generation students. Join us for giveaways, resources, and a powerful showcase of what it means to be FIRST-GEN. We encourage everyone to show their college spirit by wearing LBCC apparel or representing their favorite college, university, or alma mater!


First-Gen Career Industry Panel

Date/Time: November 12, 2025, 11:30AM–1:00PM 
Location: LAC M-129 (Panel) & P146 Courtyard (Networking)

This event is an opportunity for first-gen students to meet with professionals across different industries who were once in their shoes. Students will hear their stories, learn from their experiences, and get insight to help them on their own academic and career journey! First Gen Hacks: Harnessing Technology and Resourcefulness

An interactive workshop designed to help first-generation students use technology to thrive. Students will explore productivity tools, AI platforms, and tech strategies to improve organization, studying, and access to campus resources. RSVP Here!


I Got Money Moves: Leveling Up Your First Gen Finances

Date/Time: November 18, 2025, 12:00PM–2:00PM 
Location: LAC FYE CENTER (B-203)

Sponsored by the LBS Financial Credit Union

This engaging 60–75 minute workshop makes personal finance approachable and empowering for first-generation college students. Students will learn budgeting, credit-building, and saving strategies, along with campus-specific financial hacks like grants and scholarship tips. RSVP Here!


First Gen Luncheon – Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers 

Date/Time: November 19, 2025, 11:30AM–1:00PM  
Location: LAC T-1200

A celebration of first-generation students’ accomplishments! This luncheon provides a welcoming space to connect with peers, faculty, and staff, build community, and recognize the resilience and success of first-gen trailblazers at LBCC. Free food will be provided while supplies last. RSVP Here!


Sip n Science – First Gen Edition

Date/Time: November 19, 2025, 5:30PM 
Location: LAC D-135

Nicholas Rajen-Diné (Oneida, Navajo Nation) holds a B.S. in Physics from the University of New Mexico and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from UC Riverside. He will serve as the guest speaker for Sip n Science: A First-Gen and STEM Discussion, where he will share insights on bridging Indigenous knowledge, scientific inquiry, and first-generation experiences in higher education. A multidisciplinary scientist, Nic works at the intersection of agriculture, energy, and ecology, with experience spanning materials science, arid lands farming, environmental restoration, and Tribal College administration. His work centers on regenerative agriculture, soil science, and sustainable energy through agrivoltaics, alongside advocating for Indigenous representation in STEM. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and Kinyaa’áanii Diné/East Indian descent, he champions the integration of Indigenous empirical knowledge with modern science to advance culturally grounded and sustainable innovation. Learning Communities Family Feud

Students from various learning communities face off in a fun and competitive Family Feud-style event! This friendly competition fosters connection, collaboration, and celebration across cultural learning communities. No RSVP needed, please feel free to join!
