About the Department
From the stars above to the layers below, the Physical Science
Department teaches aspiring scientists about the Earth and its
properties. The department offers programs in astronomy,
chemistry, environmental science, geography, geology, and
physics. Through lectures, labs and field studies, students study
the cosmos, the nature of matter, how humans affect the natural
world, geographical landscapes, the building blocks of rocks and
minerals, and energy and motion. The programs are designed for
students seeking a two-year degree in pursuit of a bachelor’s or
entry-level laboratory or related work. The department offers
Associate of Sciences and Associate of Arts degrees in physical
science and geology.
