From the stars above to the layers below, the Physical Science Department teaches aspiring scientists about the Earth and its properties. The department offers programs in astronomy, chemistry, environmental science, geography, geology, and physics. Through lectures, labs and field studies, students study the cosmos, the nature of matter, how humans affect the natural world, geographical landscapes, the building blocks of rocks and minerals, and energy and motion. The programs are designed for students seeking a two-year degree in pursuit of a bachelor’s or entry-level laboratory or related work. The department offers Associate of Sciences and Associate of Arts degrees in physical science and geology.
