Angela Fowlkes

Classified

Angela Fowlkes’ inception at Long Beach City College began as a Scholar in spring 1999 and professionally in 2000. She’s served Scholars in a variety of capacities and programs such as Workforce Development, CalWORKs, EOP&S and Financial Aid. Angela currently serves as the Inaugural Black Student Success Coordinator where she creates equitable programming for Scholars in the Black Student Success Center.


Angeli Francois

Faculty

English Department faculty member, Angeli Francois, has been honored throughout her career. In 2023, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges’ Hayward Award for Excellence in Education recognized her track record of excellence both in teaching and in professional activities, and her demonstrated commitment to their students. She said she loves that Long Beach City College decided to invest in her and looks forward to continuing her work in the name of equity.


Magdalena Huerta

Maggie is just one of a kind. For more than 26 years she has been dependable, efficient, and caring. All roads in financial aid go through her. Maggie does a little bit of everything. She has a passion for assisting students and works hard every day to make sure students awards are correct and sent on time. She projects a warm, cheerful attitude to our students, resolves conflicts and handles difficult situations with remarkable patience.


Laurie Huesmann

Stepped in to assist three areas when there were absences; is always available for faculty, staff, and students to pitch in, assists with projects such as ME1st and Ethnic Studies Summit, is a ASB Club Advisor for Crochet Club, and is the consummate support for Team LBCC.


Jose Ibarra

Management

Jose has extended his support beyond his program, playing an integral role in supporting cultural and heritage programming and facilitating events. Jose is willing to support any area in need. Jose will consistently go out of his way to be available for others in the community that he cares about. He is fully present and invested in making LBCC a welcoming and inclusive community for all.


Kimberly Nepomuceno

Management

Kim grew up in Long Beach and is a former LBUSD student, LBCC student, and CSULB alum. She joined LBCC in 2016 as an Admin Support Specialist, supporting the President’s Office, Student Services, Risk Management, the Office of Innovation, and Public Affairs and Marketing. Now an Executive Assistant, she enjoys helping others and serving the College’s diverse student body and community, a proud product of Long Beach, making her role a full circle moment.


Stacey Toda

Management

Stacey Toda serves as the Director of Communications & Community Engagement at Long Beach City College, where she oversees college-wide communications, social media content, website management, graphic design, and media production. With more than a decade at LBCC, she leads the team responsible for shaping the college’s messaging and brand. Stacey is also a founding member of LBCC’s Asian Pacific Islander Desi Employee Resource Group, supporting equity, inclusion, and community on campus.

Barry Barnes supports his athletes by attending their initial counseling appointments. He is a connector of students to campus resources including transfer scholarships. He also attends student graduation and encourages student engagement on campus.

Coach Barnes connects with Academic and Student Services to ensure his students succeed inside and outside the classroom.

Since Pedro Garcia started his career as a custodian in 1999, he has worked his way up to being the Manager of Campus Facilities. Pedro’s 23 plus years of dedication, institutional knowledge, endless energy, and college pride are invaluable to us in the Facilities & Operations department.

Daniel Gilpatrick was nominated for his tireless work supporting the dual enrollment expansion from the Admissions & Records side of the house. He manually inputted hundreds of dual enrollment forms in a matter of days. He has gone above and beyond to ensure that dual enrollment students get enrolled in courses.

Roarke O’Leary has more than 23 years of experience as an athletic counselor who encourages his students for scholarships.

He works with individual student athletes to ensure they have plans with the required courses to meet their educational and athletic goals. In particular, Roarke ensures his students meet NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA requirements for transfer and competition.

Sunleng Touch is an IT technician who goes above and beyond his job to resolve issues since 2020. As a Cambodian genocide survivor, Sunleng says his purpose in life is to serve others. He was nominated as an employee who helps with a huge heart.
