Event is scheduled Nov. 4 both in-person and virtually with Long Beach Collective Association
Long Beach City College (LBCC) is partnering with the Long Beach Collective Association (LBCA) to present a first-of-its-kind Cannabis Symposium. The Nov. 4 event is designed to help other higher educational institutions and cannabis businesses learn to effectively partner on cannabis programs, as well as gain an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that the partnership entails.
Long Beach City College and Raise the Barr Announce Innovative Partnership to Support Single-Parent Students
(Long Beach, CA, September 21, 2022) Raise The Barr (RTB) and Long Beach City College (LBCC) announced an innovative partnership to launch a pilot program that will coordinate care and housing for low-income single-parent students and their children. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered together with the goal of improving academic outcomes with a program that focuses on LBCC single-parent students and their families.
LBCC Top 10 Finalist in the Million Dollar Community College Challenge
Long Beach City College will receive $100,000 as a finalist to promote services to adult learners
Lumina Foundation announced that Long Beach City College (LBCC) was one of the top 10 finalists in The Million Dollar Community College Challenge, a grant competition to promote branding and marketing efforts at community colleges. LBCC and eight other community colleges received $100,000 and Madera Community College took the top prize of $1 million.
The funding will be used to help promote LBCC’s services to adult learners.

Long Beach City College Seeking New Members for Citizens Oversight Committee
The deadline to apply for Senior Citizen and At-Large positions is Oct. 13, 2022
The Long Beach Community College District is currently accepting applications for one Senior Citizen’s Organization representative and a Community-at-Large representative to serve on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
Applicants for the Senior Citizen spot must be a member of any current and active organization that advocates for senior citizens that is active within the District boundaries.

New Partnership Will Allow All Long Beach City College Students to Ride Many Transportation Systems for Free
Long Beach Transit, L.A. Metro partner with LBCC in program that starts Spring Semester 2022
Long Beach Transit (LBT), the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and Long Beach City College (LBCC) announced a new partnership today that will offer free rides for all LBCC students across several transportation systems.
Beginning with the Spring 2022 semester, all LBCC students – whether full-time, part-time, in-person, online, credit/non-credit or dual-enrollment – will be eligible for the free Metro GoPass, Metro’s student fareless pass program.
LBCC Raises Pride Flag in Honor of Harvey Milk Day
The Pride Flag will remain up throughout the month of June for Pride Month
During a ceremony on Mon., May 23, Long Beach City College celebrated Harvey Milk Day by raising the Pride Flag. The Pride Flag will fly at both the Pacific Coast Campus and Liberal Arts Campus and will remain until the end of June, which is the month nationally recognized as Pride Month.
2022 LBCC Commencement Ceremony to Return to In-Person on June 9
The Classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 will all be invited to attend
After two consecutive years of conducting a virtual ceremony, Long Beach City College (LBCC) announced that this year’s Commencement Ceremony will return in-person to Veterans Memorial Stadium at 3 p.m., on Thurs., June 9, 2022. This will be one of the largest ceremonies in the College’s nearly 90-year history as the Classes of 2022, 2021, and 2020 will all be invited to attend.
LBCC Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz Appointed By LT. Governor to Serve on Transfer Degree Committee
California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis appointed Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz to the Associate Degree for Transfer Intersegmental Implementation Committee, as the representative from an educational equity and social justice organization.
Ntuk and Chico to Lead LBCCD For a Second Year In a Row
At its Annual Organization and Regular Session meeting on Wed., Dec. 15, the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees elected Trustee as President Uduak-Joe Ntuk of the LBCCD Board of Trustees, and Herlinda Chico was elected Vice President. This is the second year in a row that Ntuk and Chico will serve in these roles.

After meeting during a Special Closed Session, the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Mike Muñoz as new Superintendent-President. Muñoz will start his new leadership position at Long Beach City College on Jan. 1, 2022.
