Aquatics Center to Be Dedicated to Famed Coach – Wed., Oct. 1
LBCC is proud to announce the dedication of its Aquatics Center in honor of Monte Nitzkowski, decorated athlete, revered coach, and influential figure in the history of U.S. Swimming and Water Polo. The dedication ceremony will take place on Wed., Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. at LAC’s W Building, and will lead into the Water Polo game beginning at 3:00pm. Alumni, students, employees and community members are invited to celebrate this historic moment.

Inherit the Wind Takes to Auditorium Stage Oct. 2 – 5
Long Beach City College’s Associated Student Body (ASB) and Performing Arts Department proudly present Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, directed by Anthony Carreiro. The production will open on Oct. 2, and run through Oct. 5, with five performances scheduled: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week Starts September 8
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has announced National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week will be observed September 8 – 14, 2025. This is a key opportunity to highlight the essential role HSIs, such as Long Beach City College, play in serving students and our communities.

All faculty, staff, and cross-functional teams are encouraged to apply and submit proposals in support of LBCC’s key priorities (Adult Learners, AI Innovation, Student Mental Health and Virtual Reality/Immersive Classrooms) that introduce innovative programs, practices, partnerships, or pedagogies; Address equity gaps in learning, access, or support; Improve LBCC operations in creative ways; and are collaborative and sustainable. The ITS Department has launched an updated Phone Directory on the LBCC website. All employees are encouraged to review and update their individual Directory Profile. You can make changes through the HR Employee System under the Personal Details tile. Step-by-step instructions are available on the Launch site here. In addition to individual listings, the directory includes department contact information. Please review your department’s listing in the current directory.
