“This groundbreaking of the new college center is a reminder of what our communities can build together when we choose progress over complacency and inclusion over animosity,” said Uduak-Joe Ntuk, President of the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees. “By passing Measure LB and Measure AC, our voters decided to invest not just in new walls, but in the belief that every student—no matter their background, zip code, or life story—deserves a vibrant place to learn, thrive, and grow. As a former LBCC student who studied in the former building, it’s inspiring to witness the new Building E reborn as a dynamic center of student life that will empower generations of LBCC scholars to dream bigger and achieve more.”

The Campaign for College Opportunity honored 40 California Community Colleges and California State Universities (CSU) as Pathway Champions today for their work paving pathways to college and economic opportunity for thousands of California students by strengthening the transfer process. Long Beach City College (LBCC) placed in two categories: Total Campuswide Associate Degrees For Transfers (ADTs), and California Community Colleges ADT Implementation For Black Students.

Long Beach, CA. – October 1, 2025 – Western Governors University (WGU) has established a $50,000 Grow Long Beach Scholarship Fund in partnership with Long Beach City College (LBCC) to expand educational opportunities for students continuing their academic journey at WGU. The fund will provide vital support for working learners preparing for careers in high-demand industries aligned with the City of Long Beach’s Grow Long Beach initiative, which includes logistics, supply chain, healthcare, and education.
