Zia, Malauulu to lead LBCC Board

Trustee Sunny Zia was elected President of the Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees and Trustee Vivian Malauulu was elected Vice President at the Board’s July 24 meeting. In this role, Zia will preside over the meetings of the Board and act as chief spokesperson for the Board, among other duties. The positions are elected annually among the five Board members, to a one-year term.

LBCC Receives $1M for Long Beach Promise Scholarships

The Long Beach City College Foundation recently received a gift of real estate, which turned into one of the largest donations in the Foundation’s history. The donation was from a Long Beach couple to support the Long Beach College Promise.

Long Beach City College Cuts Budget Deficit by $5.9M

Long Beach City College, through a combination of cost savings and an aggressive enrollment push, has dramatically slashed its deficit by $5.9 million.

LBCC’s 2017-2018 budget included a deficit of about $10.7 million. It is anticipated that as of July 2018, the total deficit amount will be reduced to $4.8 million.

Security Incident Notice
Disclosure information regarding the recent malware attack

On April 10, 2018, Long Beach City College (LBCC) detected malware that infected several LBCC computer systems.  LBCC’s Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) staff immediately began an investigation, disconnected workstations and servers, reset passwords and engaged an outside security firm to assist in the investigation and restoration of LBCC systems. By Friday, April 27, 2018, LBCC was able to remediate the incident and fully restore the data.
