Long Beach City College Wins Big at Community College Communications Conference
Communications Department Wins Multiple Awards for Excellence in Visual Communication Categories
On Wednesday, April 12, the Long Beach City College Public Affairs and Marketing Department (LBCC) walked away with multiple awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization’s 35th Annual Conference (CCPRO), held at the Universal City Sheraton. The team, represented by Carl Kemp, Executive Director of Public Affairs and Marketing, and Stacey Toda, Associate Director of Communications and Community Engagement, collected a total of six awards in a crowded field of all 116 California’s community colleges and won the top prize in three categories.

To contribute to a more welcoming campus community environment, Long Beach City College’s (LBCC) Public Art Advisory Group issued an open call to artists to help design an exterior façade/mural at the College’s Liberal Arts Campus, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. The deadline for applications is Fri., April 7, 2023.

The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) and Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) dignitaries and athletes gathered at the College’s new Kinesiology Labs and Aquatic Center on Fri., March 23 to announce a new partnership that will allow more than 80 SOSC athletes to practice at Long Beach City College’s (LBCC) Liberal Arts Campus.
The event celebrated both the new partnership and highlighted Ivan Parrott, the SOSC athlete who took the initiative to make it happen.

At its Annual Organization and Regular monthly meeting on Dec. 14, the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees unanimously elected Trustee Herlinda Chico as President of the LBCCD Board of Trustees and Trustee Vivian Malauulu as the Board Vice President for 2023.
LBCC Earns 2022 Equity Champion of Higher Education Award
LBCC is recognized for transfer efforts for Black and Latinx Students
The Campaign for College Opportunity announced that Long Beach City College (LBCC) has captured the 2022 Equity Champion of Higher Education award for its accomplishments in supporting Black and Latinx student transfer efforts.
The College will be officially recognized at the Campaign for College Opportunity’s virtual event, the 2022 Champions of Higher Education Celebration, on Tues., Nov. 1, 2022.
