LBCC names Kristin Olson as Executive Director of Classified Human Resources

Long Beach City College has hired Kristin Olson as its new Executive Director of Classified Human Resources.

In this role, Olson will oversee human resources management and employee relations programs for the College’s classified professionals, including recruitment, selection, employment, position classification, compensation and other services.

Olson will begin at LBCC on Oct. 16. She succeeds Monalisa Hasson, who recently left to become Vice President of Human Resources at Santa Barbara City College.

LBCC Names Luisito Amador as Director of Student Equity

Long Beach City College has appointed Luisito “Lui” Amador as its Director of Student Equity.

Student Equity is a statewide initiative that addresses disproportionate levels of educational access, course completion, and graduation and transfer rates among student populations. The initiative provides resources for colleges to identify issues specific to individual campuses, and to target any achievement gaps that exist between different ethnic groups.

Long Beach Leaders Praise Gov. Brown’s Approval of California College Promise Initiative
Provides tuition-free, first-year of community college

Long Beach leaders today released the following statements after Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed into law Assembly Bill 19, authored by Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), establishing the California College Promise. If funded in the next state budget, the California College Promise would provide a tuition-free first year at California community colleges for full-time, college credential- or degree-seeking students.
