Distinguished Online Educator

Overview

Distinguished Online Educator

The Distinguished Online Educator Award was founded in 2015 by the Office of Online Learning & Educational Technology (OLET) and the newly formed Online Education Committee.

Effective online education and learning require a great deal of time and dedication. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor online faculty members who provide innovative and exemplary practices in their online course(s), increasing student equity, engagement, and success.

The award is selected by a steering committee that follows an intensive rubric and scoring criteria for selecting an award recipient. Faculty are nominated by their colleagues and/or self-nominated, yet to be considered for the awarded faculty must complete an in-depth application. The award committee reviews all applications, visits all the online courses, and completes a scoring rubric which consists of six (6) criteria:

  1. Learner Support
  2. Course Organization & Design
  3. Communication & Collaboration
  4. Content & Student Engagement
  5. Assessment & Evaluation
  6. Faculty use of Student Feedback.

All our faculty applicants are outstanding and are raising the level of excellence of online teaching practices at LBCC.
