Long Beach Leaders Praise Gov. Brown’s Approval of California College Promise Initiative
Provides tuition-free, first-year of community college

Long Beach leaders today released the following statements after Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed into law Assembly Bill 19, authored by Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), establishing the California College Promise. If funded in the next state budget, the California College Promise would provide a tuition-free first year at California community colleges for full-time, college credential- or degree-seeking students.

Enrollment Services Will be Closed on Friday

All LBCC students should be aware that on Friday, October 13, the following Enrollment Services offices will be closed from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm for a mandatory staff meeting.

  • Admissions & Records
  • Financial Aid
  • Veterans Services
  • International Student Services

Services will reopen on Monday, October 16 at 8:00 am. If you have any questions, please contact the respective office.

An attorney who defends small businesses and nonprofits, a longtime community volunteer, a philanthropist, a U.S. Navy SEAL and a commercial real estate agent have been named as Long Beach City College’s 2017 Hall of Fame inductees, Long Beach City College (LBCC) officials recently announced.

How Culinary alum 'Chef T' cooked his way to the top!

Many Long Beach residents know about The Federal Bar, the majestic bank-turned-restaurant that previously housed The Madison. What many might not know is that the popular restaurant’s executive chef is a homegrown, Long Beach resident himself.

Not only did Chef Tarak Ouk, known as Chef T, hone his chops in restaurants across the city, but he first donned his chef’s coat as a Viking.

A graduate of Long Beach City College’s Culinary Arts Program, Chef T has come a long way.
