Board of Governors Honors LBCC With Energy Sustainability Award

Long Beach City College was recognized by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors as a recipient of the annual Excellence in Energy and Sustainability Awards.

LBCC’s Vice President of Business Services Marlene Drinkwine was selected as a 2018 Sustainability Champion. She was instrumental in creating an Integrated Energy Master Plan with the goal to meet and exceed the legislative requirements of AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act.

LB College Promises 2.0 Competes at Prestigious 2019 Bellwether Awards
Earns top ten finalist position for national community college honor

Considered as the equivalent to the Academy Award for community colleges nationwide, Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) placed in the top 10 of more than 1,000 community colleges as a 2019 Bellwether finalist for its Long Beach College Promise 2.0 Program at the Community College Futures Assembly in San Antonio, Texas. Of the 1,000 programs reviewed by Bellwether, this puts LBCCD in the top one percent of all community colleges nationwide.

Community can sign up for Port-related jobs at Long Beach City College
The Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at LBCC training starts in Feb.

The Port of Long Beach Maritime Center of Excellence at Long Beach City College (LBCC) is now accepting registrations from community members who are interested in the global logistics and supply chain industries. LBCC’s Workforce Development will be offering these short-term fee-based educational classes.

LBCCD Board of Trustees to Meet at Pacific Coast Campus Jan. 23

The Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees will convene at the Pacific Coast Campus for its January 23 public meeting. This is a change from the usual Board meeting location at the Liberal Arts Campus. 

In addition, the Board of Trustees meetings have also changed the day of the week and the start time. Meetings are now on the second or fourth Wednesday of the month, instead of the second or fourth Tuesday. Closed sessions will start at 4:30 p.m., and open session will start at 5:30 p.m.
